In TEI, languages and scripts need to be encoded by a standardized abbreviation. [1]

Abbreviation scheme

The abbreviation scheme is "[LANGUAGE CODE]-[SCRIPT CODE]", [2]
e.g. "copt-Copt", "egy-egym-Egyp-Egypcs".
