From TEI-XML in Egyptology and Coptic Studies

Jump to: navigation, search

In TEI, languages and scripts need to be encoded by a standardized abbreviation. [1]

Abbreviation scheme

The abbreviation scheme is "[LANGUAGE CODE]-[SCRIPT CODE]", [2]
e.g., "copt-Copt".

Private use specifications come after an additional "-x-",
e.g., "egy-Egyp-x-egym-Egypcs".
