Collection of glass slides, part of the historical image collection of the Media Library of the Institute of Art and Visual History at Humboldt University Berlin

( Digitization, development and design of the surface under construction. For suggestions, additions and questions please send an email with the subject "glass slides" to the media library)

Currently 54,596 slides are online, i.e. approx. 95% of the total stock. Of these, approx. 4,100 data records with metadata. Digital copies of approx. 2,000 slides and approx. 50,000 metadata records are still missing.

Around the glass slide collection there are about 15 pages on this wiki. Please use glass slide sitemap for an overview.

We would like to thank the Servicetelle Digitalisierung des Landes Berlin (digiS) and the Faculty of Culture, Social Sciences and Education of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin for supporting the digitisation project Durchblick - digitale Erschließung der historischen Glasdiasammlung des IKB.

On this page the glass slides of the media library, similar to the magazine on the cabinets, can be found and consulted about the installation system. The glass slides originate from a period of approx. 1890 - 1980 and cover a total stock of almost 57,000 pieces.

The links given for the compartments within the individual slide cabinets lead to correspondingly filtered queries in the imeji database. The compartments of the cabinets are designated from A1 - I12 (or different for smaller or larger cabinets). Depending on the labelling situation on site, the content search for slides can be based on information on the compartments or merely on the denomination of the cabinet. The digital copies are freely accessible. The majority of the originals as well as the photographs are classified as public domain due to their age.

For cabinets for which digital copies already exist, the number of digital copies is indicated (otherwise "0"). The taverns located or edited with regard to the metadata work are marked in bold. Cabinets for which no digital copies are available online are marked in italics.

Further explanations: Slides may not be placed in the correct tray. If no metadata has been created yet, the labels on the digital representation can be read to identify the objects - as on the original. The slides will later be found in the database via their metadata, which corresponds to the content in each case. The assignment of employees is listed here (only accessible internally).
